Any correspondence from IPEA to Senator Sarah Hanson-Young related to IPEA’s Assurance Review of Senator Sarah Hanson-Young’s use of parliamentarians’ travel and work resources for family reunion purposes between 1 July 2021 and 30 June 2023.

This is a request, for the purpose of the Freedom of Information Act 1982, for access to correspondence to the IPEA from the following sources:

1)    The office of the Minister of Communications, regarding a self-referral to the IPEA on or around 9 December 2025.
2)    The Prime Minister’s Office, regarding the expenses of cabinet ministers, from 12 May 2025 to present.

“I request, under freedom of information legislation:

All records held by IPEA relating to minister Anika Wells' trip to New York City in September 2025 - including, but not limited to, invoices/receipts/financial records related to flights, accommodation, ground transport, meals, incidentals, and any other transactions or purchases. I also seek any communications between IPEA and Minister Wells, her office or representatives, or her department relating to the trip and any related transactions. Please include as much detail as possible about flight details, including the date flights were booked, the class of travel, and any add-ons or optional extras purchased for the flight.”

“I seek access under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 to documents held by the Independent Parliamentary Expenses Authority relating to the air travel undertaken by the Minister for Communications, the Hon Anika Wells MP, to New York in September 2025. Please provide:

1. Ticketing, fare basis, and booking records

• The original itinerary and booking records for the Minister’s travel prior to any changes (including routing, fare basis codes, booking class, ticketing date).
• The final itinerary and booking records for the travel actually undertaken.
• All ticket reissue records, including fare differences, change fees, cancellation penalties, re-fare calculations and any notes explaining changes.
• The full tax invoice(s) issued by the Government travel provider for the Minister’s round-trip travel to New York
• Any correspondence between IPEA or the minister’s office (if held) and the Government’s travel management company relating to booking the flights, changing or cancelling flights, reissuing the ticket, quotes or fare options considered, confirmation of final ticketing.
