Travel Guidance for Ministers (which includes Parliamentary Secretaries and Assistant Ministers)
When a Senator or Member has to travel for Parliamentary, electorate or official business, a Minister is able to use a range of transport services for official Ministerial business. Ministers are able to access travelling allowance at specified office-holder rates, rather than at the standard rates which apply to Senators and Members. These travel expenses are provided by decisions of the Government, determinations of the Remuneration Tribunal and by the Parliamentary Entitlements Act 1990 and the Parliamentary Entitlements Regulations 1997.
