The Members of the Independent Parliamentary Expenses Authority (IPEA) have approved the publication of a travel expenses audit for Senator Malarndirri McCarthy, Senator for the Northern Territory.
The scope of the audit involved examining Senator McCarthy’s domestic travel connections with Sydney during the period 2 July 2016 to 30 April 2019.
Of the 50 travel itineraries assessed for the period 2 July 2016 to 30 April 2019, IPEA sought to recover a total of $17,362.22 (including GST and associated fees) for expense items found to be inconsistent with the legislative frameworks. Senator McCarthy was invoiced for this amount and immediately made payment, prior to the publication of the Audit Report.
